W. Andrew Postal ("Drew") was born in Myrtle Beach, SC. He attended Myers Park High School in Charlotte, and graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Drew worked several years in the insurance industry, after which he enrolled at the Charleston School of Law. After law school, Circuit Court Judge Larry B. Hyman hired Drew to work as his law clerk in Horry and Georgetown counties.
